June 26 Meeting of Spruce Pine Kiwanis

On June 26, David Mitchell and Mike Slagle told us about a once-a-year program at Mount View Correctional Facility called "Forgiven Ministry." It's about
rebuilding relationships between incarcerated fathers and their children. It's Mission Statement is: "To meet the spiritual and physical needs of offenders and their
families, resulting in forgiveness, healing and restored relationships."
The Forgiven Ministry program originated in Alexander County, NC and has spread to other prisons in North Carolina and five other states. Approximately 36 children are expected to be reunited with their dads for a day in September 2007. Volunteers are needed for this ministry. Talk to James Acuff about it if you are
interested.
